This photograph is taken from a series of shots taken of beaches, mainly around the South West of England and this one is no exception. I was taken by the way these pebbles glistened in the sunlight after the waves had washed over them. The water really brought out the variations in the colours - before that they were just dull and grey.

Here I found a huge boulder that has been eroded by the action of tide and smaller stones, creating a natural bowl. I was fascinated by the contrasts within this shot and the fact that the smaller stones were still within the dish of the boulder.

This is part of my "Rubbish Art" collection - where I find abandoned items and turn them into artistic photographs. This was a bottle that had obviously been abandoned on the beach some time previously. I was drawn by the shadows cast in the footprint embedded in the sand. However, when I got back and processed the photograph, I realised that the shadows actually make the image appear as if it is embossed.
